General Discussion / Elite: Dangerous Powerplay - small thought
« on: June 05, 2015, 06:55:28 PM »
So the Elite: Powerplay feature basically means a handful (?) of NPC "powers" (alliances) that players can pledge allegiance to to increase the Powers influence.

I guess if I wouldn't have put Elite on the backburner for EVE a while ago I'd be excited about that.

As it is I just have to giggle, thinking that EVEs Imperium alliance has recently spread to other games like N1Z1. Boy will they rip the game apart if they ever decide to play Elite in an organized fashion.

On other thoughts, are any of you still playing Elite? If so, is there more to do by now or is it still completely in your head?

I'm heading to 78 Ursae Majoris to gain allied reputation with the gatekeeper faction of the Alliance, the Alioth Independents. Once allied I'll have access permit to the Alioth system, capital of the Alliance.

I should be in the game at around 8:30pm GMT tonight. v1.2 is downloading as we speak. I'll be there all night and probably again several times this weekend.

Will be there in my Viper, hunting bounties. Anyone interested in picking a fight is welcome. No special requirements other than coming in open play so that we can actually form a wing. A sidewinder is fine, by the way.

In game name: Mr Onak

General Discussion / Elite:Dangerous GalNet news
« on: March 12, 2015, 12:16:16 PM »
I haven't been a big fan of the "lore" in E:D being distributed via Galnet news tidbits, actually. However, the last few days have been interesting, hinting at:

- reduced repair costs (due to an ongoing lawsuit against the Galactic Mechanics Union lol)
- reduced ship prices

General Discussion / Nimoy Exploration Vessel - Operation Traikaae
« on: March 07, 2015, 08:18:21 AM »
In order not to clutter the general Elite Dangerous thread with my voyages, I'm opening this thread.

Operation main objective: Reach and explore the Traikaae nebula.
Operation vessel: A Sidewinder christened the "Nimoy", heavily modified for exploration
Operation crew: 1 (CMDR Mr Onak)

  • Ship integrity is good.
  • Hull stable at 86, after an emergency drop near a planet and two pirate interdictions.
  • System health is stable.
  • Systems visited: around 100
  • Position: 832Ly from Sol, 4400Ly from Traikaae

Major discoveries till date:
  • 2 earth-like worlds
  • 8 water worlds
  • 2 ammonia worlds

General Discussion / Elite Dangerous anyone?
« on: February 07, 2015, 08:02:16 AM »
Good day ladies and gentlepeeps! Hope you all are well.

Since Frontier finally managed to release a version of Elite Dangerous that actually doesn't crash on the launch screen for my comp I'm wondering if any of you is playing ED as well and maybe wants to team up occasionally.

I'm currently bounty hunting in the Chamunda system but I'm slowly making my way into Alliance space, where I intend to work on my reputation. I go by "Mr Onak" in-game. Hail me if you see me around :)

General Discussion / Kerbal Space Program 40% off on steam
« on: October 07, 2014, 05:16:37 PM »
Hey folks,

a quick heads up, the best game I've ever played, Kerbal Space Program, is 40% off on steam till Friday.

It's a mad build-your-own-space-program sandbox which has kept my attention for over thousand hours already. Yes, it is an Early Access game but is has been practically bug-free since I'm playing it. The build version released just today, 0.25, made the game mostly feature complete.

There is a vital modding community over at forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com which has taken the core game way beyond its vanilla scope but I do recommend starting with vanilla to get a hang of it.

updated, new release is out

Everquest Next Landmark / oh GOD the grind
« on: March 27, 2014, 11:34:46 PM »
Needless chain of dependencies in order to get the building tools. All I want is a friggin' angled roof ffs :D

I don't mind grinding for better picks, props, ... but to get the basic building tools you need SO much stuff its insane. No joy at all. Luckily that is done now. Yay... I think.

Everquest Next Landmark / Beta to start tonight
« on: March 26, 2014, 01:16:09 PM »
The time at which the servers go live seems to change every now and then, atm it looks like around midnight GMT. There will be a new client to download and no, the alpha data will not be useful by the looks of it... big download incoming :-/.

There is a list of new islands and tiers / biomes related to them available:
https://forums.station.sony.com/eqnlandmark/index.php?threads/island-names-now-with-more-info.26024/

Me and Mrs Onak will attempt to move in on Oxbow (Tier 4, Tropical / Old Forest) in the hope that eventually we'll get new props what require higher tier mats than tier 2 Iron, which seemed to be the most farming-intensive resource during alpha ;)

Everquest Next Landmark / *random rant*
« on: March 13, 2014, 11:39:44 AM »
Don't know about you but I'm giving EQNL a bit of a break for now since every single time they roll out a major update they manage to break things that were working before.

While I didn't mind the one time where they duplicated _every_ single prop I made (including the crafting stations, muahaha) I can't be dealing with constantly realigning my doors, putting props back where they belong, dealing with chests that don't open anymore (with things inside, naturally) or glitching building tools right now.

"Alpha" means things may not work. It doesn't have to mean that things that were working stop doing so all the time.

Loving the game though. I have high hopes for it in the future but its too much of a hassle atm. For me. You guys keep enjoying yourself. I'll be back :D

Guild Wars 2 / Location, Location, Location!
« on: August 03, 2013, 08:21:32 PM »
Okay folks, its time for us to meet up in real life :). In order to accomplish that, I'd like to find out where everyone lives so that we can find a sweet spot that everyone is more or less comfortable with to get to. Being a multi-country guild doesn't make this easier but hey, one can try.

So, if you're interested, pls reply here with the town you're in. Oh and if you're interested but don't want to tell the whole world (this is a public forum after all), send me a forum message.

No promises on when this meetup will happen, mind. I'm just trying to get a feel for what's possible. Mrs O has some issues of getting a uk visa so "next weekend" is out of question, no matter how exited everone is ;)

Thanks in advance!

Oh. Me and Mrs. O are in Frankfurt / Main, Germany.
