Really?  I thought the guild was about a helluva lot more than just events. Maybe others did too and thats why the guild is dying on its feet.

I was also under the impression that all guild members would be entitled to their opinion. Seems not. Seems some think although we are all equal, some are more equal ::)

So all your rant about ANET having nothing to do with the lack of interest is in fact just that. A rant! Well there we have it! No point in anyone contributing unless it is restricted solely to event organisation.

Events or lack thereof were "part" of the issue, not it all.

Has the guild somehow become about events and only events matter? If so please tell me as that is NOT the guild I joined, nor is it a guild I will stay in. Guilds to me are about way more than just doing an event at a particular time. Concentrating on one single part of the overall problem will not fix the issue of the decline and fall of the guild.

Rant over and apologies to those who believe all members opinions matter.

A lot of good points have been raised with this thread and I will put my tuppenceworth in.

I believe GW2 is on a downward spiral that if anet doesnt do something about very soon will kill the game dead.
2 weekly updates are fine in theory but not when it only gives meaningless and temporary tat.
A MAJOR expansion is required with at least 1 (pref more) new areas to explore with NEW foes to fight.

That I think is the major driver in decline in the guild.
Many (and many officers) have stated that they are playing other things, going elsewhere for their fun etc. That is all well and good, each to their own etc, however everything just stopped. BANG, gone nothing happening.

It used to be that mornings, there were pretty much always 5 or 6 in and out of the game. Afternoons rose to 8 or 9, now we are lucky if there are 3 on at once. Evenings we were getting a couple of dozen. Now on a good night there are 5 or 6, IF we are lucky.

Many have said that events were not well attended. For me personally that is because most if not all were later evening when I was logging off. So yes I attended very few. However I tend to be of the ilk that if things are not working then we need to change SOMETHING. If late(r) evening events are not being attended, change the time/day/format.

We had all this stuff about guild events BUT most seemed to be teaming up and doing another guilds events. Why were the other guild not asked to join OUR events rather than everyone trotting off elsewhere? Individuals gained from that but our guild gained nada!

ANET, the guild, us individually are all contributing to this downward spiral.

It seems to me we need to decide whether it is worth fighting to keep the guild together in GW2. Steam groups are all well and good for those interested but doesnt touch the current problem - our guild in GW2 is dying on its feet.

Personally I think this would be such a shame as we had (have? dunno? too many never log in now) a good basic group of like minded individuals.

Recruitment might work, BUT, it needs to be active, continual and immediate (this post a request on the website etc is fine in theory but in practice folks looking ingame are looking to join a guild NOW, not a few days from now). Yes we may well get some that need to be kicked but better kicking a few and hopefully recruiting many (active players) as recruiting no-one at all.

If things continue as is we wont need to worry about the problem, the guild will be dead and the few that are still around will move on.

Having just recently gotten back into my Eng and takiing her from L39 to l80 is the past week, I have to admit that Mortar was the last skill I bought.
I have not had her in wvw so cant comment but as has been said, in PvE it is useless ::). For a supposed top elite it is a complete waste :'(.
Yes you can be further back but I have found that it just pulls groups towards you and u need to drop out but are then left with no elite to help you. :o

For solo PvE I find the defensive golem I have waaaay much more use and in groups the supply crate seems to be the only way to go

Anet. kill the mortar and give us something useful please ;)

This content for me is slightly better than the last lot. At least no jumping puzzles  ???

BUT, it still all temp and nothing meaninful. Some new bleh overly expensive weapon skins. Some old very expensive skins that can be had with karma for free and nothing really that I would call an expansion  :'(

As has been said, farstar and GW2 seems to be in its death throws  :'(
A good turn out just now seems to be 6 online.
Personally I dont see the updates every 2 weeks saving anything as mostly it smeaningless temp content.

However I do not believe this is purely a Farstar phenomenon.
I have been levelling my Engineer this past week and  spent 3 of my playdays in Straits of Devastation. In 3 days I came across 3 players and not once was the temple clear (not enough players to do the events)

If  Anet ont pull the finger out and give some meaningful expansion and content (a new fractal or dungeon doesnt cut it) then GW2 will die a slow painful and horrible death

But if anyone is on when I am and needs help/ company/ whatever just shout

hit L80 in a week from L39  ;D

Vid has a lot to answer for  :D 

Running bombs/elix gun and traited so bombs heal. seems to work fine for most pve. working to make a set of good armour though have bought a karma set meantime. Not convinced the karma stuff is ideal for my build. Dont have access to all the sets - yet, still working my way south.

Now if only someone wold post an equally inspiting one about Ele's I might get back into my Ele for a bit.

Really getting back enjoying my Eng.  ;D brought her up 6-7 levels to mid 40's  :)

Finding for PvE that Bombs for max damage, Elix. Gun, (sooperb), and either Tool kit or elix C if need xtra condition removal. Running with a rifle but actually seldom use it. Most seem to go grenades but personally prefer bombs. Guess in dungeons ability to throw might be useful, although not done any dungeons with her - yet

Not really finding turrets to be that great in solo pve

As a norm my viewpoint when playing is pretty much constantly from immediately behind, with the zoom variable. If I am not facing a foe or more often if there are 'multiple foes, they are often out of sight.

With that vid it seemed to show from various angles but the foes were pretty much always visible.

Maybe need to try some of the other settings for camera view.

that was brilliant,  :D. I really need to learn to play my engineer properly.

On another note what setting was he using for his camera view? I dont think I have ever seen my camera view keep like that. I would have lost sight so often ::)

Guess the general series is next for downloading.

I agree some of the non main stories in the 1632 series are a bit "odd"  but the main story ones are good.

Of late I have been reading a few ebooks.
I would recommend the 1632 series by Eric Flint and also, possibly better the Belisarius series by the same author. Readily available for free in various formats from http://bookos.org/

So getting a big update once a year like some mmos with content many still do in a week is also the way to go? Because all you are left with are raids just to repeat until the next yearly or maybe 6 monthly update

Why does meaningful content have to be a once a year thing?
I am quite sure they could have come up with something meaninful with the time they have spent recently on temp tat.

If they need extra cash in, make a good huge expansion as a seperate add on like GW1. Just make sure it is real value with lots of new content and no bloody jumping puzzles,  :D

Give us new prof's. Bring back the Rit!
